The attacks might relate to US brands’ perceived support for Israel. Police sources said the first attack occurred early Sunday.

Two men on a motorcycle threw a makeshift bomb. This happened at a KFC on Palestine Street. The bomb caused minor damage.

On Monday, masked men attacked another KFC branch. They also hit a second American-style restaurant. (amidst the war in the Gaza Strip)

The attackers broke glass and destroyed furniture. They fled before security forces arrived.

KFC did not comment on the attacks. The interior ministry did not explain the motives.

They said a police commander and officers responsible for the areas faced punitive measures.

Western brands face boycotts and protests. This is due to Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip. These protests are grassroots and spontaneous.
