Twitter reveals new icons design

Twitter, a microblogging service, said on Saturday that the platform’s iconography would be changing. The icons have broader outlines and a better-angled appearance.

“Good is good but better is better,” Twitter believes.

A thread on Twitter was used to make the announcement. The article read, “The goal was to create a cohesive set of icons that are bold in shape and style yet still relatable and a little cheeky where possible.”

For better comprehension of the variations, the thread includes a before and after picture of the icons. Additionally, the message stated that “more to the set” would be added.

According to Shaokyi Amdo, a representative for Twitter, the symbols will soon be accessible on the web, iOS, and Android.

The modifications follow the tech giant’s debut of a new visual design language last year.

Besides the recently added Edit button, other recent additions to Twitter include the ability to combine photos, GIFs, and videos into a single tweet, the ability to control who can mention you in tweets, and a new horizontal bar where users can find full-screen, brief video clips based on their interests.

In other developments, staff at Twitter are still dealing with uncertainty as rumors of major layoffs persist amid Elon Musk’s ownership of the company.
