Toyota bZ3 will compete against Tesla Model 3 in Europe

The bZ3 EV, which is anticipated to debut at the forthcoming Guangzhou Auto Show in November, is Toyota’s first fully electric sedan and is due to be released in China.

Although it was first said that the bZ3 would only be available in the Chinese market, recent evidence indicates that Toyota plans to introduce the electric car in Europe to take on rivals like the Tesla Model 3.

Toyota, which had long opposed EVs, ultimately showcased 16 EV ideas in December of last year to demonstrate its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality with all-electric vehicles. Future electric vehicle models will be built on the E-TNGA platform developed by the business.

The bZ4X small SUV, the first totally electric Toyota vehicle to be built on the E-TNGA platform, was recalled and manufacturing was suddenly halted owing to the wheels breaking off within a few months of it being presented in North America and Japan.

According to reports, the issue has still not been resolved, and Toyota is giving bz4X consumers a buy-back deal. The Subaru Solterra, its sibling product, is also suffering the same fate.

Thankfully, Chinese carmaker BYD, which was formerly seen as Toyota’s rival, has contributed significantly to the development of the bZ3 sedan.

BYD’s Blade lithium iron phosphate battery technology, which has a high energy density while being safer than other chemistries, will be used in the bZ3. The battery pack can be smaller with energy-dense batteries, allowing for the greater internal room.

Although the business has not yet made any public technical disclosures, reports claim that the bZ3 will have a range of about 400 kilometers when fully charged.

The BYD-built Toyota bZ3 will be driven by an electric motor with either 183 horsepower in the base model or 244 hp in the up-spec variant, according to the information posted on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology website. On both variants, the top speed will be electronically limited to 160 km/h.
