To encourage a secure, protected, and beneficial online environment for kids, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Pakistan have partnered.
Through awareness-raising and capacity-building initiatives, the cooperation strives to stop and report instances of online child abuse and promote responsible internet usage among kids, careers, and educators.
As part of this partnership, PTA has already designated “1121” as a free emergency helpline for child protection, while both parties will adopt other areas of focus.
Senior officers from PTA and UNICEF as well as Muhammad Naveed, chairman of PTA, and Abdullah Fadil, representative of UNICEF Pakistan, attended the occasion.
Chairman PTA Emphasized on Online Child Safety Environment
The PTA chairman spoke at the event and stated that the PTA is committed to giving Pakistani children access to a safe and secure online environment.
Because of UNICEF Pakistan’s extensive network of kids protection stakeholders, it will be easier to report incidences of kids Internet abuse to PTA and have such content afterwards removed from the internet.
The UNICEF Pakistan representative stressed the value of this partnership and pledged their full support in carrying out the planned activities.
