TikTok will soon enable in-app shopping

TikTok will soon allow you to shop directly within the app, and the feature appears to be ready for public use, at least in the United States.

The social media giant began testing the feature, which allows you to buy items without leaving the app, earlier this week, and it is now rolling out to American users.

TikTok has been working for a long time to bring e-commerce to the app, but it has taken longer in the US than in other regions such as Asia.

After a slow start this year, the app is now gearing up to bring live shopping features to the app after experimenting with a Shopify shopping tab a few months ago.

Laura Perez, a TikTok spokesperson, confirmed that in-app shopping is currently being tested in the United States, but provided no further details.

Previously, the feature was only available in the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and other Southeast Asian countries.

TikTok is now inviting American businesses to join the app, which will soon be expanded to include international sellers as well.

TikTok is also collaborating with brands for its live shopping feature, which could launch by the end of this year during the holiday season.

According to one of TikTok’s job listings:

The e-commerce industry has seen tremendous growth in recent years and has become a hotly contested space amongst leading Internet companies, and its future growth cannot be underestimated. With millions of loyal users globally, we believe TikTok is an ideal platform to deliver a brand new and better e-commerce experience to our users.

Since TikTok’s in-app shopping has begun to roll out to additional regions around the world, it is quite possible that the feature will eventually land in Pakistan as well, as the market here has great potential, just as it does in other countries.
