The rumored iPhone 15 will have a faster 5G processor

Because the iPhone 14 was only released last month, speculation surrounding the iPhone 15 is still in its early stages.

However, a few signs about what to expect next year are beginning to emerge. The most recent intriguing speculation concerns the 5G CPU that will be included in the iPhone 15.

According to industry expert Jeff Pu, Apple is expected to upgrade from the Snapdragon X65 featured in the current iPhone 14 line-up to the Snapdragon X70 in order to enable its 5G capabilities.

The new chip has reduced delay and consumes less power. It also includes a series of AI enhancements that should improve speed and coverage no matter where a phone is.

Aside from that, it is well known that Apple is developing its own 5G modem, just as it has done with iPhone processors. Pu believes it will be some time before Apple releases a 5G chip.

According to Pu, Apple will also continue to use Qualcomm for the 5G modems required for the iPhone 16 in 2024. That should be the Snapdragon X75, but we don’t know anything about it right now.

Then, in 2025, we might see a phone containing an entire complement of Apple chips. As a result, consider this the first iPhone 17 rumor. In the interim, we’ll keep you up to date on all iPhone leaks and rumors.

Apple has been manufacturing iPhone and iPad chipsets for many years, and it now employs Apple-made silicon in its Macs.

Apple aims to modify the iPhone’s 5G modem, which is one of the few third-party components. That is why, in 2019, it acquired Intel’s 5G modem division.

The transition is taking longer than intended. Apple releasing a 5G processor in 2023 now appears doubtful. Apple expects that by creating its own hardware and software, it will be able to create more efficient and smooth products.
