The Redmi 12C is available for only $100

During a launch event in China a few days ago, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi unveiled its K60 series smartphones, Note 12 Pro Speed Edition, and an assortment of accessories.

The sub-brand also released the Redmi 12C, a low-cost handset starting at $100.

Camera and Display

The Redmi 12C has a 6.71-inch HD+ screen and a notch for the 5MP selfie camera. A fingerprint scanner is located on the back panel, which has a non-slip texture with diagonal stripes.

It also has a dual camera setup with a 50MP sensor. Redmi has not revealed anything about the second camera, but we believe it is a depth sensor.

Battery and Internals

The 12C is powered by the Helio G85 SoC. It has up to 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of storage that can be expanded to 512 GB.

Although the smartphone runs MIUI 13 (likely based on Android 12), you won’t be able to access all of its features because it uses a “exclusive optimised” version of the OS designed for low-cost phones.

A 5,000 mAh battery, a micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are also included in the Redmi 12C. It supports 4G networks and includes a microSD card slot. There is no fast charging option.

Pricing and Inventory

The Redmi 12C is available in four colours and three memory configurations: 4 GB/64 GB, 4 GB/128 GB, and 6 GB/128 GB for $100, $115, and $130, respectively.

The device will be available in China beginning January 1 through Xiaomi’s official Chinese website. However, no information on availability in other countries is available.
