The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched an investigation into alleged corruption in the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The anti-graft body has demanded that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the additional chief secretary of the Planning and Development Board hand over project records.
According to a letter sent to the additional chief secretary, NAB is looking into the project’s feasibility, donor agencies, consultant selection, and payment records.
It has also requested records of provincial government loans, project agreements, and deals with international institutions.
The body has also requested information on the funds received for the BRT project from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The NAB has asked the KP government to provide all interim payment certificates for all payments made.
The government has also been asked to provide records of bus maintenance, construction, and repair, as well as approval to purchase the buses.
In addition, through the letter, NAB requested records of the approved BRT loan disbursement procedure and procurement rules.
According to the letter, a preliminary and final report on the BRT project from 2013 to 2022 should also be submitted.
It also states that the government must submit the project’s first and revised PC-1 forms, as well as the minutes of meetings with the Economic Coordination Committee (ECNIC), Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), and technical committee.
