SHAFAQNA – During the first eight months of the current fiscal year (2022-23), there was a 68.29 percent drop in the import of mobile phones into the country. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reports that between July and February of 2022-23, Pakistan imported phones at the tune of $447.855 million, a decrease of 68.29 percent from the $1412.445 million imported during the same period in 2021-22. The import of mobile phones have decreased as compared to last year
Moreover, February 2023 had a year-over-year decline in phone imports of 76.73 percent as compared to February 2022. In February 2023, the country imported $33.054 million worth of mobile devices, while it exported $142.033 million worth of mobile devices that same month. The report also shows a monthly reduction of 36.39 percent in phone imports during February 2023 compared to the prior month’s import total of US $51.960 million.
