A fully electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) has joined Dubai Police’s supercar fleet, increasing the security presence of police officers across the city’s top tourist destinations.

The Dubai Police General Command has announced the addition of the Hongqi E-HS9, China’s first fully electric SUV. With plate number 8, the E-HS9 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds.

Its battery can be charged from dead to 100% in about six to eight hours, and it can travel approximately 440 kilometers on a single charge. The E-HS9 SUV also includes multiple advanced screens for information synchronization.

The Lamborghini Aventador, Audi R8 Coupé V10, Bentley Continental GT, McLaren MP4-12C, Aston Martin One-77, Mercedes-AMG GT63 S, Maserati GranTurismo, Bugatti Veyron, Toyota 2021 GR Supra, and other supercars are already part of Dubai Police’s fleet.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, stated:

“By adding supercars, Dubai Police enhance the security presence of police officers across essential tourist destinations, including the Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, JBR, etc.”

According to Al Mansouri, Dubai Police has always been committed to promoting the emirate’s safety and security, as well as maintaining its position as one of the world’s safest destinations.

He went on to say that Dubai Police has always sought to add the most efficient, flexible, and up-to-date vehicles to its fleet in order to deal with a variety of situations.

He stated that the new electric vehicles would improve traffic police performance and contribute to Dubai Police’s strategic goal of maintaining road safety and security.
