Tesla is preparing to launch the “Charge On Solar” feature in order to make electric vehicles (EVs) more sustainable.
Tesla’s “Charge On Solar” Function
Tesla, known for its electric vehicles and solar technologies, announced that the owners can now charge their vehicles entirely with excess solar energy from Tesla’s Powerwall system. This will alter EV charging and help to reduce their carbon footprint.
For the “Charge On Solar” feature, the vehicle and Powerwall home battery system must be modified. To use this eco-friendly charging feature, owners must have version 2023.26 or later. In addition, to sync the car and Powerwall, the mobile app must be updated to version 4.22.5.
Users of the app can now enable “Charge On Solar” following these changes. Users can set charge limits and select their charging location using this functionality. With this level of customization, customers can match their EV charging to their energy needs.
The vehicles equipped with the “Charge On Solar” option can continuously monitor the charging status in order to optimize energy consumption.
Every ten seconds, the system adjusts charging. Users can also plan solar charging for better energy management and lower utility bills.
This feature is only available on company’s Powerwalls. “Charge On Solar” is currently unavailable to third-party solar power system owners.
