Tesla’s online configurator displays price increases for various Model 3, Model Y, Model X, and Model S automobiles, according to Electrek. The Model X Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive received the biggest price increase, going from $114,990 to $120,990.
The Model S Dual Motor AWD Long Range’s price increase was also high, going up by $5,000 from $99,990 to $104,990. The Plaid version of the electric sedan stays the same price: $135,990. Meanwhile, the Model Y Long Range and Performance vehicle prices jumped by $3,000 and $2,000 to $65,990 and $67,990, respectively.
Only one model of Tesla’s most cheap vehicle, the Model 3, has increased in price. The price of the Long Range variant has increased by $2,500, from $54,490 to $57,990.
Last year, Tesla raised its car prices on a regular basis, but this is the first boost in 2022. Although growing inflation, as well as more expensive raw materials and shipping expenses, are likely to be important factors, the corporation never said why the new modifications were implemented.
Furthermore, Tesla’s 12-month backlog of orders might indicate that the business is attempting to prepare for higher future production costs.
Following his “very terrible feeling” about the economy, Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote an email to company officials earlier this month requesting that they “stop all hiring worldwide” and slash staff numbers by 10%. He recently retracted his statement, adding that total headcount will rise this year but paid employees will stay “pretty stable.”
