Emirates Telecommunication Group Company PJSC, or Etisalat (meaning “communications”), is a global Emirati telecommunications services provider with operations in 16 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Moreover, By number of subscribers, it is the world’s 18th largest mobile network operator. In the United Arab Emirates, it is the only internet services provider.
In addition, in 2012, Forbes Middle East ranked Etisalat as the most powerful corporation in the UAE. Etisalat claimed the world’s fastest 5G download speed of 9.1 Gigabits per second in December 2020, a network that it has been deploying in Dubai since 2017.
Furthermore on December 31, 2020, Etisalat reported consolidated sales of AED 51.7 billion and net earnings of AED 9.1 billion. The current market valuation of the company is AED 194 billion.
Moreover, Etisalat is one of the Middle East’s Internet hubs, offering connectivity to the region’s other telecommunications companies. It’s also the largest international voice carrier in the Middle East and Africa, as well as the world’s 12th largest.
Etisalat has 510 roaming agreements covering 186 countries as of October 2008, allowing BlackBerry, 3G, GPRS, and voice roaming.
In addition to New York, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris, and Singapore, Etisalat has Points of Presence (PoP) in New York, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris, and Singapore. Etisalat launched their 4G LTE network commercially in December 2011.
