Teen Accounts Launch on Facebook and Messenger in Pakistan

Islamabad: A year ago, Meta introduced Teen Accounts, a significant move to enhance the safety of teens using its platforms. Since then, hundreds of millions of teens have been placed into Teen Accounts across Instagram, and now this feature is expanding globally to Facebook and Messenger, including Pakistan.

Teen Accounts Rollout

Initially launched on Instagram, Teen Accounts are now being rolled out worldwide on Facebook and Messenger. Starting this week, Meta will begin placing both new and existing teen users in Pakistan into these safer, more controlled accounts.

Protections for Teens

Teen Account protections were designed to address parents’ major concerns. These include automatic safeguards that limit who teens can interact with, filter the type of content they see, and help ensure their time online is meaningful and safe.

Parental Peace of Mind

Meta reports that Teen Accounts have brought parents greater peace of mind by creating safer online experiences for their children. While improvements are ongoing, early feedback suggests that these accounts are effectively supporting digital well-being.

Meta’s Commitment to Safety

As part of its ongoing mission, Meta continues to explore new ways to protect teens on its apps. By combining technology with feedback from parents and experts, Meta aims to strengthen its safety measures and create a more secure online environment for young users.
