Swabi Women University restricts students from using smartphones

According to media reports, the Women University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi region has banned all students from using smartphones.

According to a statement issued by the university’s provost, “Smartphones/touch screen mobile or tablets will not be allowed on the premises of Women University Swabi with effect from April 20, 2022 (Wednesday)”.

If a violation occurs, the institution will take stern disciplinary action and pay the students involved Rs. 5,000.

Students have been observed utilizing a variety of social media apps during university hours, according to sources, which has an impact on their education, behavior, and performance.

As a result, according to the warning, students are not permitted to use mobile phones during university hours.

Peshawar University had already urged its students to follow the new dress code and to keep their cards on them at all times in March 2021. According to university administrators at the time, the dress code was enacted to ensure that students dressed similarly on campus.

Similarly, on January 9, 2021, the Hazara University in Mansehra ordered women to wear shalwar kameez with a dupatta, chadar, or abaya. Heavy make-up, jewellery, and expensive purses were all barred under the new rules.

In other occasions, men were told to wear either traditional eastern or western attire. Students are no longer permitted to wear cut, ripped, or skin-tight trousers, shorts, slippers, or jewellery like earrings and chains.
