Due to the government’s strict viewpoint on imports, the Pakistani automobile industry has been in trouble in recent months.
Because the letter of credit (LC) was not approved, multiple automakers, including Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), were forced to cut production to cope with rising inflation.
However, the government recently relaxed import restrictions, allowing automobile manufacturers to continue production and sales. PSMC has resumed bookings, but only for corporate customers.
The report highlights that the company has only resumed bookings for the following cars:
- Wagon R VXR
- Wagon R VXL
- Cultus VXR
- Swift GL Manual
- Swift GL CVT
This means that reservations for the Wagon R AGS, Cultus VXL, AGS, Swift GLX CVT, and all Alto variants are still on hold.
According to the report, the company is still not operating at full capacity and only has stock for a limited number of units. It is possible that PSMC will reopen bookings for all vehicles and customers in September.
Kia Lucky Motor Corporation (KLMC) has also resumed car reservations after deciding to keep the recently raised prices.
According to a dealership representative, the company is taking reservations for all cars with a minimum delivery period of one month.
The resumption of bookings is a promising development for the local automobile industry, and it will almost certainly result in promising sales in the coming months.
