Sindh Shares Good News About E-Challan Fines

The Sindh government has shared hopeful news for Karachi residents who were worried about heavy e-challan fines. After growing public concern, officials agreed to review the current penalty system. The move came after detailed talks in the Sindh Assembly. Many citizens had complained that fines were too high for daily earners and families struggling with rising living costs.

Key Meeting Held in Karachi

A special committee meeting on electronic traffic challans was held in Karachi to discuss these issues. Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar chaired the meeting. Members of the committee attended and shared views from different sides. The main focus remained on easing pressure on citizens while ensuring traffic rules were respected across the city.

Motorcycle Fines Likely to Be Reduced

According to sources, the government agreed to reduce motorcycle fines after the issue was raised strongly. Opposition leader Ali Khurshidi highlighted how high penalties were hurting everyday riders. Many motorcyclists use bikes for work and daily travel. The committee accepted that lowering fines would bring fairness without weakening the purpose of the e-challan system.

Relief Expected for Small Cars

The meeting also discussed fines for small vehicles. Sources said the government agreed in principle to reduce penalties for cars with engine capacity up to 1,000cc. Middle-class families mostly own these cars. Officials felt that lighter fines for such vehicles would help people follow rules without feeling punished beyond their means.

Opposition Supports the System with Changes

Ali Khurshidi made it clear that the opposition does not oppose the e-challan system itself. He said the goal is not to end digital enforcement but to correct excessive penalties. The committee welcomed this balanced view. The discussion ended on a positive note, with hope that revised fines will soon bring relief to Karachi’s drivers.
