Sindh Government Revises School Timings in Response to Severe Cold Wave

Sindh school timings

Due to a severe cold wave affecting various cities in Sindh, the Sindh government has decided to adjust school timings. The extremely cold mornings were making it difficult for students, especially younger children, to travel safely, which raised concerns among parents and teachers alike.

New School Timings

According to the official notification from the Sindh Education Department, all government and private schools in Sindh will now open at 9:00 AM, instead of the previous opening time of 8:00 AM. This effectively delays school start by one hour to help students avoid the harsh early morning cold.

School Closing Time

Only the opening time of schools has been changed. The closing time remains the same, meaning the duration of classes and school day will not be affected.

Duration of the New Timings

The new schedule came into effect on 12 January 2026 and is expected to continue until 26 January 2026, depending on the weather conditions. The government may make further adjustments if the cold wave persists or worsens.

Purpose of the Decision

The primary aim of this decision is to protect students’ health and safety. By delaying school opening during the peak of the cold wave, the government ensures that children are not exposed to extreme cold while commuting to school.
