The Sindh Police Hyderabad Range and the Department of Criminology at Karachi University have signed an agreement under which the former would provide three-month paid internships to the latter’s students in order to assist them get professional experience.
According to reports, the agreement was signed last week by Pir Muhammad Shah, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Hyderabad, and Prof. Dr. Nabi Narejo, the Chairman of the Department of Criminology.
As part of the deal, the interns will be allocated to various police stations around the area. They will gain acquainted with the activities of the Hyderabad Police Department’s various branches.
Interns will gain valuable professional experience that will help them in the future. To bridge the gap between the public and the police, they will also show the officers’ positive side.
The Peshawar Range of the KP Police and Peshawar University signed a Memorandum of Understanding in February.
Under the provisions of the agreement, Peshawar Police have pledged to providing internship opportunities to Peshawar University students in order to assist them get professional experience.
The Vice-Chancellor also praised the department’s efforts to connect outstanding students and stated that more MoUs should be signed with other police ranges so that more students may participate in research and development activities.
He argues that these possibilities will provide students with daily hands-on exposure with police enforcement units.
He further mentioned that additional seminars would be held in partnership with Sindh Police in order to improve public knowledge about law enforcement institutions.
