Sindh makes high security pillion riding ban for Muharram

The Sindh government banned pillion riding during Muharram. This aims to maintain peace. The ban starts on Muharram 9 and 10. The Islamic year starts in July.

Women and children under 12 can ride. Seniors and disabled persons can too. Journalists and law enforcement in uniform can ride. Essential service workers can ride as well.

The government also banned weapons. Holding events without permits is not allowed. This includes processions and Majalis. Section 144 of the CrPC enforces this till Ashura.

From Muharram 1 to 10, more rules apply. Loudspeakers cannot break sound laws. Hate speech and violent posters are banned. No one can stand on rooftops during events. Events need permits. No large gatherings except for Islamic month of mourning events. Pillion riding remains banned.

Carrying weapons is banned. Only law enforcement and security can carry. No Helicams or drones allowed. All carry permits are suspended.

Police can file complaints against violators. They can do this under Section 188 PPC.

In Punjab, 502 places are sensitive. The interior ministry announced this. Events only allowed in specific places. They will monitor all events.
