The Government of Sindh, in collaboration with private sector partners and social organizations, has established 1,420 new Non‑Formal Education (NFE) centers across the province. This initiative aims to expand access to education for children and youth who are not enrolled in formal schools, ensuring that marginalized and underserved communities benefit from educational opportunities.

Objective of NFE Centers

The main objective of these centers is to provide basic literacy and numeracy skills to out-of-school children, along with vocational and skill-based training for youth. They are designed to support inclusive education, reduce educational gaps, and complement the formal school system, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have access to quality learning opportunities.

Implementation and Partnerships

The NFE program is being implemented under the supervision of the Sindh School Education Department, with active collaboration from private sector organizations and social and educational NGOs. These partners contribute resources, technical support, and local expertise, while the government ensures that quality standards and monitoring mechanisms are maintained across all centers.

Expected Impact

The establishment of these NFE centers is expected to broaden educational access throughout Sindh, particularly in underserved areas. The initiative aims to reduce dropout rates, enhance vocational skills and employability, and promote inclusive education policies in both urban and rural communities. It is a step toward building a more educated and skilled youth population in the province.

Official Announcement

The initiative was officially announced on 30 December 2025 in Karachi, with Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah and other officials present. The government emphasized the importance of collaboration with private and social organizations to ensure sustainable educational outcomes and to reach the maximum number of children and youth across Sindh.
