Saudi to make Dr. Mehmood Khan an official citizen

Dr. Mehmood Khan, a Pakistani scientist, now holds Saudi citizenship, joining a group of global professionals. He is also an American citizen and leads the Hevolution Foundation, a nonprofit focused on aging treatments and therapeutics. Based in Riyadh, the foundation has a $1 billion budget annually, ranking among the top funders in geroscience worldwide. Dr. Khan’s citizenship supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aiming to attract global talent for economic and social growth.

Saudi Arabia issued a royal decree in November 2021, allowing experts in science, medicine, culture, sports, and technology to apply for citizenship.

Dr. Khan studied at the University of Liverpool Medical School in England. Despite growing up in England, he takes pride in his Pakistani heritage. He advises young professionals to pursue their passions courageously.

Dr. Khan’s career includes leadership roles at Life Biosciences Inc., PepsiCo, and Takeda Pharmaceuticals. At the Mayo Clinic, he directed research in diabetes and nutrition.

He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the American College of Endocrinology. Dr. Khan chaired the US-Pakistan Business Council and served on the board of Reckitt Benckiser. He urges future leaders to innovate constantly to remain relevant in their field.
