The federal cabinet gave its approval on Wednesday to the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCoP) to employ a company to lease the Roosevelt Hotel in New York.
According to a source from the newspaper agency, the committee requested that the privatization commission choose a financial adviser for leasing the hotel site during its meeting on Monday.
According to reports, the government is proposing a cooperative venture for the potential mixed-use development of the site, which is owned by Pakistan. Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, presided over the CCoP meeting.
The Roosevelt Hotel lease problem was one of the topics on the CCoP meeting’s agenda.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also instructed the relevant authorities to form a committee to develop a strategy for reducing electricity use in government buildings by 30%.
The Federal Minister for Energy, the Federal Minister for Planning, the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources, as well as pertinent secretaries, will make up the committee.
While presiding over a meeting of the federal cabinet, the prime minister gave the order.
The National Energy Efficiency and Conservation and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting both have campaigns planned to raise awareness of energy conservation and austerity.
The “Proposed Energy Saving Plan” put out by the Power Division was discussed by the federal cabinet.
The group was briefed on the stakeholder consultations that have been held thus far about the energy-saving strategy.
