With more than 19.4 million transactions, ePay Punjab has hit a significant revenue milestone of Rs. 100 billion. Through its social media platforms, ePay Punjab announced the news.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and the Punjab Finance Department collaborated to create ePay Punjab, an online payment system. It is the first-ever government payment aggregator, connected to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) through the 1-Link network, that enables people to pay their taxes using a variety of electronic payment methods.
From its introduction in October 2019 to June 2022, ePay Punjab processed 17 million transactions for approximately Rs 90 billion in tax revenue.
A total of Rs. 57 billion in sales tax, Rs. 11.5 billion in token tax, Rs. 9 billion in property tax, Rs. 4 billion in traffic challans, and Rs. 440 million in motor vehicle transfer fees were collected through the online payment system up to June.
With the goal of accelerating the rate of financial inclusion among Punjabi residents, the first government payment aggregator, ePay Punjab was established. Together with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the Punjab Finance Department is working on it. Both business-to-government (B2G) and person-to-government (P2G) payments can be managed.
