On Tuesday, an anti-terrorism court (also known as an ATC) in Gujranwala issued arrest warrants for Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah that are non bailable. The court did not grant Rana Sanaullah’s request for an exemption from having to make a personal appearance.

In addition, the judge ordered that Rana Sanaullah be detained and brought before the court on March 28.

Case Against Rana Sanaullah

In August 2022, a case was filed at the Industrial police station against the senior PML-N leader on a complaint made by PML-Q leader Shahkaz Aslam.

The complaint alleged that the senior PML-N leader had issued life threats to the Punjab chief secretary and members of the chief secretary’s family. The warrants were issued in connection with this case.

Earlier, over the preceding month, the ATC had issued warrants for the interior minister’s arrest that were subject to bail. The case against the interior minister, who was accused of making threats against institutions, was heard by the ATC.

The court had already issued arrest warrants that were subject to bail for Rana Sanaullah and had postponed the hearing until March 7th.
