Punjab Launches Satellite Forest Monitoring System

Punjab Launches Satellite Forest Monitoring System

Punjab has stepped into a new era of care for nature by starting a satellite-based forest monitoring system that watches over its large green areas with fresh eyes. With satellites such as WorldView-3, SPOT 6-7, Pleiades, PRSS-1, Landsat, and Sentinel-2, the province can now follow tree cover and changes in the land in real time, giving hope for a safer natural future.

Real-Time Tracking for Stronger Protection

This system can quickly spot illegal logging, land grabbing, and any unusual activity that harms the forests. Once something wrong is seen, the Environmental Protection Force can act at once, making sure bad actions do not spread. These steps bring a sense of order, reminding us of long-held values of guarding the gifts of nature while using new tools to stay ahead.

Building a Full Digital Forest Record

For the first time, Punjab will keep a full electronic record of every forest area, helping teams respond better when risks appear. Early signs of forest fires, harm to land, or threats to wildlife can be found faster than ever. This move blends old respect for nature with modern skill, strengthening hopes that tomorrow’s forests will stand taller and healthier because of the care shown today.

A Promise for Future Generations

Marriyum Aurangzeb shared that this new system protects the present while planning wisely for the years to come. By stopping the misuse of land and improving plantation plans, the province aims to secure its forest cover for the next generations. Officials believe these satellite images will help guard some of Asia’s largest forest areas, guiding Punjab toward lasting and kind-hearted environmental management.
