According to a fresh notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), people across Punjab will observe holidays later this week. The announcement was released from the Welfare Wing of S&GAD in Lahore and applies to all government offices across the province.
February 5 Already Declared National Holiday
Earlier, the Government of Pakistan had already declared February 5, 2026, as a public holiday on the occasion of Kashmir Day. This national holiday is observed every year to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir. With this holiday falling on Thursday, it has now aligned smoothly with the newly announced provincial holidays, forming a longer, more relaxing break for the public.

Holidays Apply Across the Entire Punjab
The notification clearly states that Friday, February 6, 2026, and Saturday, February 7, 2026, will be non-working days throughout Punjab. All provincial government offices, departments, and related institutions will remain closed on these days. The order was approved by the Chief Secretary of the Government of the Punjab and carries the official reference number No.SOW-I(S&GAD)1-3/2008(P-IV), dated February 3, 2026.
