The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an official statement in response to the alleged outage of internet services across the country less than 24 hours ago.
According to the statement, internet services were disrupted on a limited scale in a few locations of different cities for roughly half an hour on Monday, and the problem was resolved quickly after it was discovered.
The internet services have now been fully restored, and subscribers may now enjoy unrestricted access to a variety of services, according to the statement by PTA.
In addition, the PTA organized a high-level committee to study the causes of the country’s internet service outage, which was reported on Monday.
PTA also announced earlier this month that it would drop the mobile termination rate (MTR) in a gradual manner to lower call prices across all networks.
MTR fares were initially decreased from Rs. 0.70 to Rs. 0.50 per minute. The MTR will be reduced to Rs. 0.40 per minute in the following phase, which will begin in July. The final phase will begin in July of next year, with MTR fares reduced to Rs. 0.30 per minute.
