According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the nation’s adaptable regulatory environment has contributed to an increase in user involvement across a range of digital platforms.
Pakistan today has 70 million active users on social media platforms, attracting connections in the global digital environment because to its active younger demographic.
Important traffic statistics can be found in PTA documents; daily bandwidth use was about 18.03 Tbps. Carrier Level Services (CLS) providers supply 5.65 Tbps, with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) contributing a significant 12.38 Tbps.
With 68.7% of all bandwidth used, CDNs are in the lead and improve Internet service quality while minimising costs.
PTA data indicates that 37.55 percent of daily bandwidth utilisation is attributed to Meta traffic, with Google accounting for 30.18 percent and Akamai for 16.79 percent. Notable additional contributors are Netflix, Tencent, and TikTok.
PTCL appears as a major participant, accounting for 40.5% of online traffic and underscoring its critical function in providing Internet services to a large segment of the populace.
Precise CDN data highlights the impact of key players, such as Meta and Google, which is indicative of how widely used their platforms and services are in Pakistan.
PTA claims that these figures shed light on the digital preferences and usage habits of the nation’s Internet users, showing an increasing reliance on digital platforms for information sharing, entertainment, and communication.
