PTA Issued Warning Against Telegram Bots To Scam Citizens of Pakistan
The PTA’s advisory describes the variety of strategies employed by these hackers, who recruit users referred to as “Mammoths” to conduct scams labeled as buyer, seller, or refund scenarios.
The Neanderthals con the Mammoths into purchasing imaginary goods by posing as merchants in the seller scam.
On the other hand, in buyer scams, they pretend to be customers in order to obtain private financial information from naïve retailers.
Refund scams also entail tricking Mammoths into making a second fraudulent transaction under the pretense of offering a refund.
The PTA has linked the Telekopye activities to Classiscam, a scam-as-a-service operation that produced an astounding $64.5 million in criminal earnings since 2019, following a thorough investigation.

However, the Neanderthals are highly sophisticated; they use web scrapers, study the market, and investigate real estate scams to improve their phishing tactics.
Moreover, the PTA issued a call to action, recognizing the gravity of the situation, urging institutions, government representatives, and users to exercise caution and take the appropriate safety precautions to prevent falling for these scams.
By using anonymity tools like VPNs, proxies, and TOR, hackers have demonstrated a willingness to use cutting-edge tactics to trick and exploit innocent people.
