The Telecom Cyber Security Task Force (TCSTF) has formed, as stated by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
PTA Formed Telecom Cyber Security Task Force (TCSTF)
However, the goal of this industry-wide effort is to guarantee that the cyber security goals specified in the 2023–2028 strategy are implemented in an efficient manner.
Furthermore, with the formal approval of PTA, a task force consisting of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from key telecom providers scheduled to constitute.
Additionally, its main responsibility is to monitor the implementation of the cyber security policy through frequent monthly meetings.
Objective of Task Force
However, the objective is to keep a careful eye on projects, spot possible problems, and act quickly to remove any obstacles in the path.
The conversion of each domain under the cyber security plan into Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is a notable aspect of this methodology.
Moreover, individual telecom operators will provide these KPIs, and the task force will play a vital role in assessing their performance.
However, it believes that this methodical assessment procedure will improve responsibility and guarantee a targeted strategy for accomplishing the cyber security objectives established for the telecom industry.
The paper states that everyone on the task force will get accountable and liable for the strategy’s initiatives’ successful completion.
The emphasis on coordination with pertinent stakeholders as a crucial component of the implementation process emphasizes the initiative’s collaborative nature.
Telecom Industry Role
The statement noted that the task force presents the telecom industry as a responsible stakeholder in tackling cybersecurity concerns and offers a forum for coordinated efforts by encouraging industry-level collaboration.
The PTA released its Cyber Security Strategy for Pakistan’s Telecom Sector earlier this month. It is a detailed strategy that will run from 2023 to 2028.
The strategy is based on six fundamental pillars, each of which focuses on a different facet of cyber security: capacity building, proactive monitoring and incident response, cyber resilience, legal framework, cooperation and collaboration, and public awareness.
These pillars provide a robust and secure digital infrastructure throughout Pakistan’s telecom industry by taking a comprehensive approach.
