The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will grow to eight franchises in 2026, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) intending to permanently extend the window in April and May.

Multan Sultans’ Addition

Multan Sultans’ getting in 2018 is the single addition to the original five so far, and the basis on selecting new cities for the remaining two franchises has yet to be built.

The Multan franchise will also be up for renewal next year, as the PSL’s ten-year lease ownership agreements with franchise owners expire.

Stable schedule for PSL

Considering the ILT20, SA20, and ICC Champions Trophy coming in the February-March of 2025, PCB is looking for a more stable schedule.

Trouble with Foreign Player

PCB wants to keep the PSL in the April-May forever, but all franchise owners reject this idea, particularly three franchise owners.

Who worry they will have trouble with foreign player accessibility and will have to play as backups to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, the top cricket body suggested that all franchises.

With the possibility of the draft, get one star signing in order to ease franchise worries over player availability.

Play-offs in the UK

Chairperson Mohsin Naqvi of the PCB also thinks that hosting the play-offs in the UK will help the league next year by expanding it, avoiding blistering heat in Pakistan in May.

Next edition might simply act as a test case for the future possibility of staging the league jointly with the IPL; this is an experiment that the PCB is ready to try under the current chairman.
