President of APPSCA demands more education budget in 2023

Malik Ibrar Hussain, president of the Central Association of Private Schools and Colleges in Pakistan (APPSCA), called for a significant increase in funding for education in the incoming fiscal year 2023-24 budget. More than 65 percent of youngsters, he noted, are not enrolled in school, thus it is imperative that the private education sector be supported financially.

The administration has taken real action to improve education, boost the literacy rate, and raise the number of children in school. The private education sector is prepared to work with the government in any way that would help advance the country’s educational system.

APPSCA looks for more facilities in upcoming year

According to Malik Ibrar Hussain of APPSCA, every year in the month of June, the budget is presented, and every year, a crucial area like education is overlooked. It’s crucial that this time around, the government allocates a sizable amount of money to education. Pakistan’s educational crisis is unique among the world’s others.

Children who are unable to attend school as a result of economic factors such as low wages and high unemployment rates are on the rise. Thousands of children in Islamabad are forced to labour in factories instead of attending school.

The APPSCA president argued that in such cases, the government should rally the private education industry and provide funding to help enrol children who are currently not in school. Sixty-five percent of today’s school-aged children attend non-public institutions.

There is discrimination in the country because the full money goes to public school students and private school students have no access to a science lab or other amenities. This policy flagrantly violates the Constitution’s Article 25-A. We support public-private partnerships that advance education and advocate for including madrassah students in the mainstream educational system.

According to Malik Ibrar Hussain, they deserve same treatment as Pakistanis and hence should be provided for in the budget. He insisted that funding for all levels of education, including higher learning, be significantly boosted.
