Like Instagram Stories, WhatsApp’s Status feature allows users to post brief updates about what’s going on in their lives.
These Statuses are only valid for 24 hours. Users of WhatsApp can now post voice notes as status updates.
Post Voice Notes as WhatsApp Status
- Go to the Status section.
- On the page, click the pencil icon. It is located in the bottom right corner for Android users, and at the top of all status updates for iOS users.
- To begin recording, tap and hold the mic icon in the bottom right corner of the next window.
- By swiping the mic icon to the left, you can cancel the recording.
- The recording can be previewed after it has been recorded by pressing the play button.
- If you didn’t like the recording, you can delete it by clicking the delete button. Then you can start over.
- To make the voice note a status update, click the send button in the bottom right corner.
WhatsApp also provides a few customization options that you can access before posting the status.
Changing the background colour by tapping the colour palette icon in the top right corner. On the bottom left, there’s also a private audience selector that allows users to choose who can see their status.
Please keep in mind that, unlike regular voice messages sent via chat, voice notes on Status are limited to 30 seconds. If you require more time, post the first status and then record a new one.
WhatsApp voice notes appear to have been widely rolled out across Android and iOS, so if you don’t see them, head over to the Play Store/App Store and update to the most recent version.
