Police brutality video, Manchester officer suspended now

A British policeman was suspended after videos showed officers beating people at Manchester Airport. The videos are shocking. In one video, an officer kicked and stomped on a man’s head. This started a big argument in Britain. People are asking if police used too much force.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the fight began after three officers got hurt. One woman officer had a broken nose. GMP said the videos were shocking and unusual. They asked Britain’s police watchdog to investigate.

On Wednesday, GMP took the officer in the video off duty. On Thursday, they suspended him. The videos went viral and caused a big outcry. One video showed a man on the ground. Two officers pointed tasers at him. One officer kicked his face and stomped on his head.

Police Videos Spark Protests and Debate in Manchester

In another video, a man raised his hands while sitting. An officer pointed a taser at him and brought him to the ground. The officer kicked him and tried to handcuff him.

Another video showed an officer pepper-spraying a man. The officer then wrestled the man to the ground. Media could not verify what happened before or after the videos. The condition of the men is not clear.

The videos caused protests at GMP’s headquarters in Rochdale. Crowds shouted, “GMP shame on you.” On Thursday, GMP’s Assistant Chief Constable Wasim Chaudhry said the protest ended safely. He said people have the right to protest peacefully.

GMP explained what led to the videos. They said police were called to the airport after an assault report. Three officers got injured in a “violent assault.” They arrested four men for assaulting an emergency worker. GMP said the videos show a shocking event and people are very concerned. They said using force in an arrest is unusual and alarming.

Many British politicians condemned the videos. Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, called the videos “disturbing.” Paul Waugh, a local MP, said he is “extremely concerned.” He spoke to the man’s family and will meet them on Friday. Home Office Minister Diana Johnson said she understands the public’s concern.

Not all lawmakers condemned the police. Richard Tice, from Reform UK, said the video was “reassuring.” He said police used force for a serious issue. The investigation continues. The events have sparked a big debate in Britain.
