PM Khan announces Rs. 407 billion interest-free loan program

Prime Minister Imran Khan addressing at the cheques distribution ceremony of Kamyab Pakistan Interest Free Loans at Faisal Mosque Islamabad on 2nd March, 2022.

Prime Minister Imran Khan launched an interest-free loan program worth Rs407 billion under the Kamyab Pakistan Program on Wednesday, claiming that it would help the country’s low-income groups become self-sufficient.

The premier said at the program’s launch ceremony at Islamabad’s Faisal Mosque that 4.5 million families would benefit from interest-free loan under this initiative to start small businesses, build homes, start farming, and get technical education.

He added that the government had so far disbursed Rs2.5 billion among low-income groups through various welfare schemes, and that banks had also given loans worth Rs55 billion after the government encouraged them to help the common man.

The prime minister emphasized the importance of transforming Pakistan into a welfare state modelled after Madinah, stating that the country was envisioned as a socio-welfare state.

However, he regretted that deviation from this ideology exacerbated difficulties for the common man.

He stated that he would establish the Rehmatul-lil-Aalameen Authority tomorrow (Thursday), a body he envisions for researching how to best disseminate lessons from the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to the general public.

The prime minister went on to say that the “biggest” initiative taken by his government to help citizens was the creation of the “Naya Pakistan Health Card.”

He added that by the end of March, all families in Punjab would have received the health card, reiterating the announcement he made at the program’s launch in the province in December last year.
