The $230 Pixy drone, Snap‘s latest flying camera, went on sale last week, but early customers were informed they’d have to wait three months to get their hands on it.
According to the drone site, we now believe Snap isn’t doing enough because the Pixy’s shipment period has been prolonged to four months.
Does this imply that Pixy is popular? It’s conceivable, but it’s more probable that Snap never made that much money to begin with.
Snap had already lost roughly $40 million due to overproduction of spectacles, but CEO Evan Spiegel advocates edge.
Snap misjudged the amount of Pixy it would require before launching it, therefore it was made uncommon this time. “In retrospect, we probably should have done more,” Spiegel admitted.
As a result, anyone interested in purchasing Pixy drones will have to wait. Even the first consumers who buy Pixy on day one will not see their drones for weeks, according to Snap spokeswoman Chloe Keusder.
Buyers are unsurprised by this: The website for Snap’s April 28 launch date constantly indicates an 11- to 12-week shipment window.
If you buy today, however, you will have to wait 15 to 16 weeks. Snap, on the other hand, isn’t waiting for orders before constructing each drone. Keusder informs edge that Pixy is not produced to order.
So there are at least some goods someplace that will take months to get at your door.
