PIA to Restart Flights to Europe on January 10

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of its flights to Europe, beginning with Paris on January 10. The announcement was made by PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan, who confirmed that the airline has received the necessary approvals for its flight schedule. According to Khan, bookings for the Paris flight will open on December 9, offering passengers the opportunity to secure seats for the highly anticipated service.

This move marks a significant step in PIA’s efforts to re-establish its European network, which had been disrupted due to regulatory challenges and operational issues in recent years. The resumption of flights to Paris is seen as a positive development, not only for the airline but also for travelers who will now have greater connectivity to and from Europe.

In addition to the Paris route, PIA plans to expand its European services further. Khan revealed that the airline would soon approach the United Kingdom’s Department for Transport (DfT) to seek approval for resuming flights to key UK cities, including London, Manchester, and Birmingham. These routes are expected to be in high demand, especially as many passengers look to reconnect with family, friends, and business contacts after a period of limited travel.

PIA’s return to European skies comes at a time when the airline is working to improve its international standing and enhance its services. The national carrier has assured passengers that all flights will comply with international safety standards, with enhanced health protocols in place to ensure the well-being of travelers. With the January 10 Paris flight, PIA aims to strengthen its international presence and offer more options for travelers heading to Europe.

The ban on PIA’s European flights has had a significant financial impact on the airline, costing it an estimated Rs40 billion annually in lost revenue. This disruption not only curtailed the airline’s ability to connect with key international markets but also hampered its overall profitability, further deepening its financial challenges. The resumption of European routes, starting with Paris, is seen as a critical step towards recovering this lost income and rebuilding PIA’s presence in the competitive global aviation market.
