Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) eventually disclosed a reduction in one-way ticket costs for students traveling to China after facing criticism. The national carrier reportedly announced a 10% discount in round-trip flights to China.
A 22% discount is offered to customers who purchase tickets through Pakistan International Airlines’ booking offices.
Additionally, PIA raised the amount of luggage that is permitted for students. Before, they were only permitted to transport 40 kilograms. They can now only bring 80 kilos of luggage, though.
Changes become effective right away. For Pakistani students returning to China to continue their academic studies, PIA offers two special journeys each week. There are flights going to Xi’an and Chengdu.
The Pakistan-China Student Council brought up the matter earlier this week, alleging that the PIA charges Rs. 550,000 for students going to China.
The national carrier, on the other hand, charges Rs. 130,000 for students coming from China.
As “#PIALootingPakStudents” rose to the top of Twitter’s trending topics and generated hundreds of thousands of tweets in a matter of hours, this problem gained traction on social media.
Following a harsh response to their pricey flights, Pakistan Airlines announces a significant discount to China.
