Dr. Shahid Munir, head of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), made the decision to include Japanese language classes in university curricula on Friday.
During a ceremony conducted by the Pakistan Japan Socio-Economic Association to promote the Japanese language in Pakistan, the announcement was made, according to a press release reported by The News.
In his remarks, Dr. Munir informed the audience that the PHEC would submit the plan to the government.
He claimed that strengthening Japanese language education will pave the way for a free trade cooperation with Japan, a global leader in the automotive, electronics, and machinery sectors.
PHEC taking steps to facilitate students
Dr. Shahid has stated that initiatives are being taken to boost student enrollment and enhance the quality of the educational system. He argued that specialised training was crucial for success in the modern economy.
He said that expanding Japanese language instruction in universities would boost IT, engineering, and manufacturing cooperation, which in turn would provide more opportunities for Pakistani university graduates to find gainful work.
