Petrol prices will remain unchanged for the next fortnight, Ishaq Dar

Ishaq Dar, the minister of finance and revenue, announced on Saturday that the government has chosen to maintain the current rates for petrol goods for the ensuing 15 days.

The minister declared the prices will be in effect beginning on January 1, 2023, and lasting for the following 15 days, up to January 15, during a press conference.

According to him, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued special instructions that led to the decision to maintain the current rates of petrol products on the local market.

The decision was made to help the average person, especially lower income groups, and to guarantee cheap fuel costs for households to meet winter needs.

According to him, the cost of diesel will continue at its current level and will be available at Rs. 227.80 per liter, Rs. 214.80 for petrol, Rs. 171.83 for kerosene, and Rs. 1.69 for light diesel oil.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) suggested raising the price of kerosene oil by Rs. 8.76 per liter and light diesel oil by Rs. 7.73 per liter due to an increase in petroleum rates on the global market. The administration, however, decided against it and chose to maintain the current prices.
