Dr. Umar Saif, the acting minister of information technology and telecommunication, reported that the value of IT exports rose by 39.4% to $265 million in January of this year from $190 million in the same month the previous fiscal year.

The IT sector in Pakistan is expanding and breaking records. The minister wrote on X that “IT exports in January are up 39.4% to $265 million, compared to $190 million in the same month in 2023.”
IT exports totaled $1.7 billion
The minister also revealed that for the first seven months of the current fiscal year (July-January), IT exports totaled $1.7 billion, up 13% from $1.5 billion during the same period previous year.
The export of computer services increased by 10.32% over the reviewed months, from US $1,064.579 million in July of previous year to US $1,174.481 million in July through December of 2023–2024.
Within computer services, this year had a nominal 180 percent decline in software consultancy services exports from US $3.394 million to US $3.333 million, while hardware consultancy services saw a 3.401 percent increase from US $391.570 million to US $404.875 million.
In contrast, the export and import of computer software services increased by 2.79 percent, from $302.376 million to $310.807 million.
While the export of repair and maintenance services fell by 39.15 percent, from US $1.530 million to US $0.930 million.
In the meantime, during the review months, information services exports fell from US $2.180 million to US $1.750 million, a 19.72% decline.
