Pakistan’s ‘historic’ lunar mission will launch on Friday

The Institute of Space Technology announced on Tuesday that Pakistan’s “historic” lunar mission, iCube-Q, will launch from Hainan, China, on May 3 at 12:50pm on China’s Chang’e 6 lunar probe.

According to the Institute of Space Technology (IST), the satellite ICUBE-Q was planned and constructed in conjunction with China’s Shanghai University (SJTU) and Pakistan’s national space agency Suparco.

ICUBE-Q orbiter

The ICUBE-Q orbiter includes two optical cameras for imaging the lunar surface. Following satisfactory qualification and testing, iCube-Q has been included into the Chang’e 6 mission.

Chang’e 6 is China’s sixth lunar exploration mission.The launch will be streamed live on the IST website and social media outlets.
