According to Google, Pakistani app developers advanced to 16th place in 2023 from 27th place in 2018. Last year, Pakistani apps were downloaded four billion times.

Pakistan’s IT exports increased by 2% to $1.3 billion in the first half of the current fiscal year. According to Arif Habib, a prominent Pakistani investment banking and securities firm, these IT exports accounted for 38% of the country’s total service exports.
According to Google, 65 apps from 24 Pakistani developers will be in the top ten in the gaming and apps categories on both the Play Store and the App Store in 2022.
According to the tech giant, Pakistani apps were downloaded four billion times worldwide last year. This corresponds to a 30% annual growth rate from 2018 to 2022.
Google recently hosted Lahore’s largest in-person apps and games event. Over 500 developers and industry leaders attended the event.
Google intends to expand its support for the local app industry in order to assist Pakistani developers in taking advantage of digital opportunities.
Google stated that the tech company will host Think Apps events to share insights and trends from global experts with local developers.
Think Apps follows a series of similar events – Think Games and Gaming Growth Lab – introduced by the US tech giant last year for the first time in Pakistan.
Google worked with over 1,600 developers and assisted in the promotion of 50 early-stage gaming studios to compete globally.
Google also helped over 5,000 Cloud developers and over 3,000 Android developers improve their skills through community-led programs such as Cloud Seekho S5 and Android Seekho S2.
Farhan S. Qureshi, Google’s Director for Pakistan, is optimistic about the country’s potential to shape the future of the global app economy.
Qureshi expressed his belief that Think Apps 2023 will enable more local talent to create fantastic games and apps.
Using Google’s AI-powered solutions, the event is expected to accelerate their growth and expand their global presence.
