Pakistan marked on the amazing 50G-PON net trial

The first symmetric 50G-PON technology experiment in Pakistan was carried out by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) and Huawei. This technology will aid in the rollout of next-generation fiber-optic broadband services in Pakistan.

50 Gbps Connectivity

50 Gbps connectivity in both downstream and upstream transmission can be achieved simultaneously using symmetric 50G-PON.

Compared to the Asymmetric 50 G-PON, which only allows for 50 Gbps of downstream transmission, it has an advantage. At the start of the year, PTCL also launched Asymmetric 50G-PON in Pakistan for the first time ever.

The next generation of Passive Optical Network-based broadband technology.

Known as 50 GPON, is acknowledged by ITU-T as having the potential to completely transform Pakistan’s digital environment.

With low latency next-generation services, this development will help shape future demands across industries, corporations, businesses, campuses, and residential settings.

Innovations like Holographic Technologies, XR-based Metaverses integration in personal and professional domains.

Smart Manufacturing

Smart Manufacturing utilising 3D Machine Vision, Remote Surgery and Medical Clinics, High-Performance Gaming, etc. Are some of the key applications and services made possible by this technology.

The smooth coexistence of 50G-PON technology over the same passive optical network infrastructure as GPON and XG(S)-PON is one of its noteworthy features.

With the use of this capacity, PTCL will be able to provide its customers with noticeably faster broadband speeds when they request on-demand service upgrades.

Successful Trial of 50G-PON

The successful trial of 50G-PON Symmetric technology in Pakistan has allowed PTCL to reach yet another noteworthy milestone, according to Group Chief Technology and Information Officer (GCTIO) at PTCL & Ufone 4G, Jafar Khalid.
