Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Qatari investors to explore new areas of collaboration under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) framework. The meeting, held in Islamabad, brought together the Prime Minister and Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani. SIFC Aims to Attract Global Investments
Established in 2023, the SIFC serves as a gateway for foreign investors looking to participate in Pakistan’s key economic sectors. It simplifies procedures, removes red tape, and ensures smoother coordination between the government and investors. The council’s main focus lies on critical areas such as energy, agriculture, information technology, tourism, and infrastructure development, creating a more open environment for foreign investment.
Focus on Bilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar. He noted that both countries could greatly benefit from working together in diverse sectors. Energy and food security were mentioned as priority areas for collaboration, alongside modern agricultural practices and digital transformation.
