Pakistan gained US $1,454.881 million by offering different information technology (IT) services to various countries during the first six months of the current fiscal year 2023-24.

This is an 8.98 percent increase over the US $1,334.969 million received through the supply of services in the comparable months of the previous fiscal year 2022-23, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

During the months under consideration, the export of computer services increased by 10.32%, rising from US $1,064.579 million last year to US $1,174.481 million between July and December 2023-24.

Exports of software consultation

Among computer services, exports of software consultation services fell by 180 percent, from US $3.394 million to US $3.333 million this year, while exports of hardware consultancy services increased by 3.401 percent, from US $391.570 million to US $404.875 million.

However, the export of repair and maintenance services fell by 39.15 percent, from $1.530 million to $0.930 million.

While the export and import of computer software services increased by 2.79 percent, from $302.376 million to $310.807 million.

Meanwhile, information service exports fell 19.72% over the review period, from US $2.180 million to US $1.750 million.

Exports of information services climbed by 3.64 percent, from US $0.687 million to US $0.712 million, while exports of news agency services fell by 30.48 percent, from US $1.493 million to US $1.038 million.

The export of communications services climbed by 3.89 percent, falling from US $268.0210 million to US $278.650 million, according to the report.

Among telecommunication services, the export of call centre services increased by 12.14 percent during the months, from US $107.006 million to US $119.994 million.

While the export of other telecommunication services decreased by 1.58%, from US $161.204 million to US $158.656 million this year, according to PBS data.
