The United States has placed 28 technology companies from Pakistan, China, Russia, and Japan on an export blacklist for allegedly assisting in the development and distribution of military and nuclear projects.
The move has targeted 13 corporations in Pakistan, 12 enterprises in China, and two associated firms in Japan and Singapore, making it hard for US companies to sell technology to listed companies.
According to the Financial Times, companies in the semiconductor and aerospace industries, as well as quantum computing, are among those sanctioned.
The sanctions’ goal is to discourage US companies, suppliers, and customers from doing business with the blacklisted organizations, stifling the flow of technical talent, money, and raw materials needed for those businesses to operate at full capacity.
