Only 2 Pakistani universities rank among the top 100 in QS Asia

In a promising sign, 50 Pakistani universities have been named to the QS Asia University Rankings 2023.

These rankings seek to identify Asia’s top higher education institutions. Only two, however, have made it to Asia’s top 100 universities.

The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) is this year’s top-ranked national university in the QS Asia Rankings, according to details.

Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) and Lahore University of Management Sciences follow NUST (LUMS). Only NUST and QAU are among Asia’s top 100 universities.

Since 2009, QS has published the QS Asia University Rankings. The methodology used to compile these rankings is similar to that used to compile the QS World University Rankings, but with some additional indicators.

Here are the metrics used to evaluate Asian universities:

  1. Academic standing.
  2. Employer standing.
  3. The faculty-to-student ratio.
  4. International research collaboration.
  5. Citations for each paper.
  6. Papers for each faculty member.
  7. PhD personnel.
  8. The percentage of international faculty.
  9. International student proportion.
  10. Inbound exchange student proportion.
  11. Outbound exchange student proportion.

Overall, 760 universities were included in the QS Asia University Rankings 2023, making it the largest Asia University Rankings since its inception in 2019.

This year, Peking University is the best Asian higher education institute, with National University of Singapore coming in second place. Tsinghua University is Asia’s third best university.
