OGDCL Announces Major Oil and Gas Discoveries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa January 2026

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited OGDCL has announced a significant oil and gas discovery at the Baragzai X1 Slant exploratory well in Kohat district Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Initial production tests indicate a flow of 4100 barrels of oil per day and 10.5 million cubic feet of gas per day. This discovery will strengthen Pakistans domestic energy reserves and help reduce reliance on imports. OGDCL operates this block with a 65 percent working interest while its partners include Pakistan Petroleum Limited and Government Holdings Private Limited.

Gas Discovery at Bilitang1 Well

Additionally the Bilitang1 exploratory well has yielded a new gas discovery announced by the TAL Joint Venture. The well produces approximately 1.58 million cubic feet of gas per day highlighting the hydrocarbon potential of the Kohat region and providing promising prospects for future exploration. In the TAL JV OGDCL holds a 30 percent stake while the other partners include MOL Pakistan Pakistan Petroleum and Pakistan Oilfields.

Production from Bettani2 Appraisal Well

OGDCL has also started production from the Bettani2 appraisal well in Lakki Marwat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This well currently produces around 8.5 million cubic feet of gas per day and 610 barrels of oil per day. The gas is being supplied directly to the SNGPL network contributing to the local energy supply.

Ongoing Oil Production from Pasakhi14 Well

In Hyderabad Sindh the Pasakhi14 development well continues to produce approximately 1100 barrels of oil per day. This well is a key part of OGDCLs domestic oil production strategy and contributes to the companys overall exploration and production operations.
